Prepare to be swept away by the electric atmosphere of our latest discussion where the animation world meets expectations, diversity, and strategy. We're kicking off with a bang, tackling the buzz around the "Solo Leveling" anime, diving into the unique fusion of modernity and fantasy it promises. With the manhwa's legacy looming large, we dissect the initial episodes and the controversy it sparked, all while savoring the narrative craftsmanship that has fans on the edge of their seats.

As we spin the globe of animation, we land on the distinct artistic expressions of Korean, Japanese, and Chinese storytelling, such as the arresting "Fog Hill of the Five Elements." The debate heats up with a foray into the world of dubbing, where iconic shows like "My Hero Academia" and "Dragon Ball Z" join the fray. And if that's not enough to whet your appetite, the mention of Netflix's "Monsters" from the "One Piece" universe is sure to ignite a flame in the hearts of anime aficionados everywhere.

Finally, we anchor down in the influence of Korean content and Netflix's shrewd animation tactics that are reshaping our viewing traditions. From integrating anime marathons into fitness regimens to championing the power of women in the Korean show 'Siren,' we're unpacking it all. The discussion takes a wild turn to the zombie frenzy with "The Walking Dead," and we speculate on how streaming platforms could amplify superhero sagas. It's an episode packed with laughter, insight, and a sprinkle of The Wiggles – a true testament to the diverse palette of entertainment we can't get enough of.

Speaker 1:

Welcome back to Senpai with some guy. Welcome, everybody Welcome back. It's been a while. We've had a well deserved break. We had a very well deserved break. We had Christmas, New Years. Couple weeks after Couple, weeks after yeah, we had some. It is what it is. We're here, though. Hey, we're back. Welcome to 2024. What a year Year of Kobe Bryant.

Speaker 2:

Wow.

Speaker 1:

Yep, I had something else. I didn't want to. I didn't want to fucking. Yeah, whatever it is, what it is, oh, it's great yeah.

Speaker 2:

I was not expecting that. I was like nowhere to segue from this. There's something else, there's something else. But you know what? It's a good place to level out the field.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, someone say In a solo way.

Speaker 2:

In a solo way. In a solo way.

Speaker 1:

So lemon lime solo, no sugar.

Speaker 2:

It's a lemon lime, solo bitter.

Speaker 1:

It's a level up from the original solo.

Speaker 2:

It's definitely not a level down. It's not a level down. Because you can't go from the bottom down to the bottom.

Speaker 1:

No, once you put it right bottom, there's only one way to go Diagonally.

Speaker 2:

Diagonally, diagonally, diagonally, diagonally, diagonally. Sorry guys, first podcast back. We're back though, we're back though.

Speaker 1:

Back with a fucking vengeance If you're Tommy.

Speaker 2:

Dark. If you are first time meeting us guys, yep, hit that button Subscribe. Hit the podcast. Leave us a rating, or say to the end and just talk some shit with us, bang bang, I'm Senpai, I'm some guy. And we're here to talk today.

Speaker 1:

Today, solo leveling, solo leveling. My husband's been murdered.

Speaker 2:

Don't know why I went in that accident, but it sounds more dramatic.

Speaker 1:

Shut the fuck up MacBook Pro. Be quiet. Which one are you talking about?

Speaker 2:

Be fucking quiet here Look, this year no holds bars.

Speaker 1:

No, holds bars. There's fucking shit going down this year too.

Speaker 2:

We've got a lot of shit going down this year.

Speaker 1:

What a year for animation.

Speaker 2:

I'm not going to say it, but there's some shit going down my pants Going down.

Speaker 1:

Yep, and it's on my patio. Yeah, shout out to DV On my patio. Yeah, bit of dog poo, bit of dog piss, bit of poo.

Speaker 2:

Bit of acidity.

Speaker 1:

A bit of acidity, acidity. Acidacy.

Speaker 2:

Oh, that's a weird word. I don't like it. I don't like it. I don't like it, I don't like it, acidity, acidity. Acidity.

Speaker 1:

Acidity, acidity.

Speaker 2:

Acidacy, acidacy, that's a Pokemon Acidity, sorry to me If you don't know, to my brain damage. Yep, let's talk about solo leveling guys. Yeah, just come out what a fucking.

Speaker 1:

What an entrance to an anime. Honestly.

Speaker 2:

I just want to say you know when an anime comes out like this Jinwoo. It's Jinwoo is good, but don't take my track, please. Yeah, woo, when a Manga is this hyped up? Yeah, 100%, for a year, I would say, I'd say a year yeah.

Speaker 1:

It's been finished for like two years.

Speaker 2:

Two years been finished, so you know I had a lot of big expectations.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, as you should, as you should. Sometimes they don't pay off Yep 100%, but this time so far.

Speaker 2:

So far I'm up to episode three.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Is two, but he's bred the Manga.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, I haven't watched episode three yet, but Okay so the leveling.

Speaker 2:

Very good, very different.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

I love the fantasy mixed in with modern-ish kind of shounen-y kind of vibe.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I guess it's its own kind of like Genre, genre.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

And a lot of man was have branched off from this, from solo leveling success. There's a lot of man was in like out there these days from Korea, because solo leveling is first and foremost a Korean man was, which is just a manga, but man was colored and they are scroll reads. They're not. They're not right to left reads and not they scroll. Very good, very cool, very cool.

Speaker 2:

Thank you for that fact.

Speaker 1:

There's a. There was a lot of controversy leading up to solo leveling being animated. As you know, if you want something animated, you want a Japanese, like a Japan company, to animate it.

Speaker 2:

It's like Obviously, obviously, you want to taco you go to a Mexican place. Yeah, you got to go to Italian place 100 percent.

Speaker 1:

That's what that's. That's the thing I'm putting down. Yeah, but I'm solo leveling as a man was had a lot, of, a lot of negative things to say about Japan. Japan was portrayed as the enemy multiple times in the Manwa.

Speaker 2:

Oh really.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so that's why I'm solo leveling. Took so long to get animated and that's why it's not the first Korean Webtoon to get animated. I mean like God of High School and Tower of God were. Tower of God was first, god of High School was a second, and now we're moving into a solo leveling. I don't know about any others that may have trickled in solo leveling is the best for me so far, yeah. Solo leveling is the highest selling Manwa all time Makes sense.

Speaker 2:

It seems like it's got some good juicy shit in there that I'm ready to unpack. Hell yeah, eat that gum. The whole pack, five gum.

Speaker 1:

Five gum. Yeah, feel the flavor. Feel the flavor. Yeah, flavor's been filled.

Speaker 2:

Like a late night, late Um those days, late night, uh, thursdays, thursdays.

Speaker 1:

Thursdays Burn off. Burn off If you know you know, if you know, you know, if you know, you know, if you know you know. But it's great. It's been great so far. Started off excellent. The first chapter ends on the creepy smiley face. If you know you know, but um, that went. That happened midway through episode two. So it's like kind of like the pace. I'm liking it, but I don't know if the pace is going to pick up after this, because apparently we're only getting 12 episodes Okay, so they're probably gonna jam some.

Speaker 2:

They're gonna jam a lot of shit and jam some shit in bro.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, there's gonna be. There's gonna be a lot of marshmallows coming in for the fluffy bunny. Do we find they?

Speaker 2:

cut all this shit out of Japan. That'd be hilarious. Yeah they're gonna happen. I don't know, I can already imagine the community They'll be there we yeah, I can feel them.

Speaker 1:

There'll be some things right now dude, 100% I can feel those fucking keyboard, fingers fucking. Some opinionators, some people with opinions, I don't know about it.

Speaker 2:

I do know about the history of Japan and Korea.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, not the yeah what was said. Yeah, I don't know about what I don't know about what the.

Speaker 2:

The manga was said. Anyways, I'll enjoy it if it comes up. If not, you can feel me pretty funny.

Speaker 1:

We're pretty funny loving that they're keeping the Korean names to Song. Yeah, that's cool, yeah.

Speaker 2:

I feel like they spoke Korean to An episode three.

Speaker 1:

Oh, oh, the scene between.

Speaker 2:

Like the back, what do you call it flashback? Flashback of him and his mom and his sister. Oh, did she get sick? Yep, sorry guys. Spoiler this will come out after episode, like on Thursday. Yeah, yeah, you have time to watch episode three.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, you'll be ready, you'll be ready. Solo leveling is, like that's not even like that bad you find it's a crash crunchy wall win a first game out, so a lot of people watching it, get on.

Speaker 2:

It's on crunchy roll. Yep, hit it up. Good stuff you. It's a new anime. Catch up on it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

So, oh, that's leave it, leave it, leave it, leave it, leave it. Yeah, leave it. Yeah, it's fine. He fell apart, though Look at time to crisis, yeah.

Speaker 1:

It's like a Samsung phone. It's like a Samsung Galaxy man, oh god. Like 71, like back in the days you dropped it. Fucking battery goes everywhere it's. It was so like demoralizing and like just you really feel down if your phone falls out of your pocket and your battery starts flipping around On the concrete or wherever you are, it's like if you get knocked out and your pants get pulled down at the same time.

Speaker 1:

Literally, it is not good and, like you know, you don't just like a quick pickup, it's like a down, crouched down on your knees.

Speaker 2:

Crawl around, try and find the battery, yeah, and then clip it back on that embarrassment, kind of like shiver, you know. Oh fuck, if you had your.

Speaker 1:

SIM card like pop out. I've had everything. My yeah, my sim card like micro SD battery, all of it just gone flying out of it.

Speaker 2:

But for our viewers that around our age or older that had batteries that came out. Yeah, you know people like you need batteries come out of your phone. Wow, what the hell?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, dude, yeah, yeah batteries were in the phone.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, but they lasted like 20 days. Yeah so especially Nokia's, nokia's baby E 63, one of the best phones ever, yeah, 100% Goat to go phone, it's a go phone to go. If we're doing go, do we'll do one episode of go phones? Yeah, we'll just do that. Next week We'll do a segment go phones go phones of the 2000s of the tooth. Yeah, mid mid 2000s, 2000s, 210s they call it to 10 decades, 20, 10s. It sounds weird. Let's not do that.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that's not feel that long ago, but we're like in 2020, snow almost halfway, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2:

What was that old Disney show? Fuck Ben been on the future something.

Speaker 1:

Some of the future, yeah, it's anime podcast. Sorry, I'll come back to it.

Speaker 2:

I find yeah, yeah yeah, phones Goat list next week segment next week.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, phones go list. Yeah, we'll come back, we'll give you like, and it's not just gonna be phones, it's gonna be phones that we had. Yeah, yeah, like I'm gonna Pop out and be like yeah, the black bear Fucking, have the blackberry. Yeah no, leave it for next week. Bang, bang, yeah, okay.

Speaker 2:

Where were we? We're on solo leveling.

Speaker 1:

Okay, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Solo leveling. Let's get back on track on the train. Yeah, there's a train I'm riding go with.

Speaker 1:

You're the conductor. On the conductor, you are the conductor. Well, I'm a bit sweaty, so I'm shoveling coal into that fire. Yeah and I'm breathing it in yeah, breathing it in platform. Nine and three quarters.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I'm that guy. I never get on the train, I just Yep. I just watched the trains.

Speaker 1:

Yep.

Speaker 2:

That's actually thing in.

Speaker 1:

Japan, by the way. Yep, train watches, train watches, look it up, look it up, find them, find them. Don't say hello, though, no, that could be weird. That's a bit. Yeah, shin can't say. She can't say baby, all right.

Speaker 2:

Cool. What were you on solo leveling?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, the Korean yeah, the Korean Korean talking episode three. Fuck, we segue dude, but I love it, gang, gang. It's been a while, it's been a been a been a long time.

Speaker 2:

This is a Senpai. Some there's no say yeah, if there's no segue, there's no podcast. Let's be honest.

Speaker 1:

Hmm, never been on a segue.

Speaker 2:

I've been on one of those little you know boards. Yeah, it's kind of like a segue, I guess.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, same thing, yeah just doesn't ever handle the whole. Yeah, so I love the old version. We should go segueing one time?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I'd love that. I love segueing about segues. Poor blart, more cop. Do you guys just feel like you got gas lit? Cuz did? That's the end of the podcast.

Speaker 1:

We're not actually talking about solo leveling at all. That's the end for you, so watch only first ten minutes. Yeah, so you guys know what. Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, now we're into the thick boys.

Speaker 1:

We're into the thick girls and boys. We're into the Gang.

Speaker 2:

Congratulations, guys. You beat the system. Hell yeah, you're not in short form content.

Speaker 1:

There's an algorithm that's happening, that's it, and you're fucking tuning in your you weren't like 20 seconds, I'm out. No, no, no no, no, no, no, you're here in 10, 11 minutes, 11 11 54.

Speaker 2:

This is right, lemon 54, and that's amazing and we appreciate you to make it to you, my cousin. So back on solo, leveling solo. What a show.

Speaker 1:

Yeah yeah.

Speaker 2:

So yeah, I think I Heard some come, some need us, that's all. That's definitely Korean, and I'm pretty sure that's Korean. Yeah so I don't know if they were some leader. I don't know if they just did you between the family and then it was like yeah, he's Korean, yep Um I. But anyways, it's yeah, look out for it. I don't think.

Speaker 1:

I would mind. If it was in Korea, I would either.

Speaker 2:

I would mind but I guess Japan is the major Audience that watches that way. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, cuz like you look at, chinese anime is like animation styles way different, yeah, but immaculate, very cool it's. I think it's the the five elements on fog hill. That was like one of the first Chinese enemies that came out and it was like I need to watch it so good. Hmm, so exceptional. Season 2 just came out mm-hmm end of last year.

Speaker 1:

Good, great, okay, good shit. Good animation, good fight scenes. It's just like for a lot of people that watch anime, getting into an anime that has a different language. It kind of just feels like you're watching dub for the first time. Yeah, I get, you know, I get it sounds weird, but the more you listen, obviously you get used to it. Some of our people still listen to dub. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Fair enough, looking at you can't do it looking at you can't do it, but congratulations.

Speaker 1:

You know it's can get to you wherever you are.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I just puts me off, man puts me at least a watchdog. Yeah, yeah. And you used to look at me and be like, why do you watch dog?

Speaker 1:

It was my hero, though they did it for you, like I said, yeah, it's Deku's voice tried, and so I hated. I hate my hero to Academy's dub voice actors yeah they're all like oh my yeah, yeah, it's so.

Speaker 2:

Can they not talk like normal people?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, like I don't mind dub, it's just like yeah, there's some actually in my saga, season two, was okay.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, but I think that's because I can imagine them having voices like that if that makes sense where, like some of the other ones, like I can't, I could imagine that my hero is too, but there's like a do really good with their dub voice actors, their choices.

Speaker 1:

Yeah you know like we have demon slayer, not bad.

Speaker 2:

Yes, I know it. Oh, very good, I'm just a jujutsu kaisen, but I've heard it's good yeah jujutsu, either dragon ball z. Exceptional. I just go to.

Speaker 1:

I would have to, like I have to watch dub. Yeah, go talk, number one.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I can't go. Cute voice irritate to me in Japanese. I just can't imagine it.

Speaker 1:

Sorry, I like I love Vegeta's voice and pick a loads voice in Japanese.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, they're very deep yeah but so is the dub pick a lot. I know it's hard for me.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, pick a lot is just like I don't know. Pick a lot is definitely one of my most favorite.

Speaker 2:

Like the Vegeta English one is like really good iconic you know it's like you know it, you know it, you know it. Anyway, solo, leveling, solo. There's a level and it's solo Um. First three episodes are good. Let's uh, it's kind of there, um, no, um, yeah well, we got it we got some other stuff.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, you guys know it's good stuff.

Speaker 2:

We'll watch it.

Speaker 1:

Let us know. We'll leave a couple. We'll watch a couple episodes. Yeah, come back with what we think later on, like jujutsu kaisen. Yeah, haven't come back, we will come back. We will come back because I feel, like, um jujutsu, there's a lot to unpack. And it's gonna it's gonna take a while, like the last episode I was ten minute, I'm not gonna go on it, we'll go into another episode.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, this would be kind of like one of our one-piece episodes where we kind of unpack solo leveling and then maybe yeah, just cause you just have we'll need that for jujutsu, because that shit was like exceptional Iconic Yep, good shit. And the last episode kind of confused me, but that's okay. Yeah, that's all right, you'll get back to it. You're after we watch it again. Yeah, um, what else has been coming out? Will monsters?

Speaker 2:

we got monsters coming out this is didn't know I was coming out tomorrow, so that's we can cut into some a bit of one piece. If you want to finish up, we've got a bit of one-piece news. Yeah we can talk about. So monsters is coming out on Netflix. Yep, and that's created by odor. Yeah, and he created before one piece, didn't he like? It was like yeah yeah.

Speaker 1:

I'm not sure if it's connected to the Universal he had a lot of one-shot mungers, got you that kind of like interlocked Into romance dawn, yeah, which was this, the original one piece. But then one piece became what? It is today, yeah, and those one shots kind of just have been gaining Momentum lately, especially this one monsters, because it's about what's his name? He's the user of shi sui in One piece, it's like from way no mm the god of samurai. Pretty much, but I forgot his name. Forgot his name.

Speaker 2:

I don't know. Offdome but is he? It is about him, it's about him, okay, cool, so it's kind of connected.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's definitely connected.

Speaker 2:

It's definitely connected.

Speaker 1:

It's a it's a prequel, so it's like way back in time.

Speaker 2:

Oh, okay, I have to watch that.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, we definitely have to.

Speaker 2:

We definitely have to watch that once you get into one piece, you cannot watch anything connected to the one piece universe. Well, this is. This is the first.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, one piece pretty keen, pretty keen pretty keen, so that's coming out on Netflix.

Speaker 2:

This would be what's this Monday, so if you're watching, this will come out on Thursday night. Hmm, so it should already be here to be out. I don't know how many episodes in a release.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, I haven't dug too deep into it. Yeah, it's coming.

Speaker 2:

So it could be fun if you want something to watch about one piece. If you haven't watched one piece yet, that's kind of cool. That's kind of cool to watch a prequel series and then go watch one piece and then you're gonna eat up. Once you get there.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. So I don't think it's gonna have a lot of Like callbacks or call forward for one piece, but we'll see. We'll just have to wait and see. I haven't looked too much into it.

Speaker 2:

I don't want to spoil myself, yep.

Speaker 1:

So a lot of the time I read a lot of mungus. So when stuff like this comes along, it's like it's good, it's refreshing. Yep, get you back into it. Yeah, it's back in the zone back in the zone.

Speaker 2:

I'm a zone. Yeah, another thing about one piece that. I thought was kind of weird. That people getting upset about is they're remaking the one piece series. I don't know if you've heard about this the not really making reanimating good one piece series. At wit studios gonna be doing it, yeah, and it's gonna be coming out on Netflix, so they're doing the whole thing.

Speaker 1:

So, yeah, well, netflix has gained the rights to one piece. Oh, that's why the new season cuz.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so also the new season of one piece is coming out on Netflix.

Speaker 1:

It like week by week, week by week. So egghead is getting done. I through Netflix. It's gonna be on Crunchyroll and stuff and your usuals, but like Netflix has the primary rights to One Piece now.

Speaker 2:

Pretty cool. Yeah, I think it's cool.

Speaker 1:

It's cool Like yeah, they made a lot of money for from One Piece and if you are, if you haven't watched One Piece right, perfect opportunity.

Speaker 2:

Once this new series comes out, like because you'll be, all of it will be reanimated, so you don't have to go back and watch like because I did that. It was rough watching East Blue, yeah.

Speaker 1:

East Blue is rough. You're better off watching the movie, hey yeah, I think so.

Speaker 2:

I think so, although you do miss a little, like some stuff, there's a lot of like niche stuff, like a little some niche fun stuff.

Speaker 1:

I think you yeah, you miss out on like some boats, bonchan, you know yeah 100% like when you watch on the East Blue saga.

Speaker 2:

And is he in East Blue saga?

Speaker 1:

no, he's in um, he's just crocodile alabaster, alabaster in the alabaster movie.

Speaker 2:

They kind of like I don't know if, like they skip over it, they miss a lot.

Speaker 1:

They do the same thing in the Skypea arc yeah, that movie they skipped a lot, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2:

So I watched the Skypea one, two and I was like that's missing a lot yeah, yeah, you can tell too watching it, yeah so yeah, if you're new to One Piece, you haven't watched it yet.

Speaker 1:

Maybe just wait maybe, yeah, maybe just wait and then you can kind of enjoy it weekly yeah like I don't know if they didn't do it weekly or just gonna release a season yeah, they probably do. Hopefully they do just like release a season. That'd be cool, yeah, cuz then you don't feel overwhelmed yeah, I think that's surely that's what they're doing. That's a Netflix thing too is like a binge, yeah. So yeah, for sure, why not do it? Yeah, get on the one piece train guys.

Speaker 2:

Netflix is making moves and animation back behind the back behind, like two episodes oh yeah, yeah, I stopped after we on a kid.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, we're on a kid. Yeah, I stopped after way no, like the final episode of way no, I've just been kind of oh, so you're the same with me? Yeah, yeah, I haven't really been watching it, just kind of like taking a back foot. Yeah, you know there's other stuff that I want to watch, like juju to solo leveling, yeah it's not hard to catch up on One Piece.

Speaker 2:

No, no, once you. Yeah, it's not hard, guys, it's not hard once you made it past a thousand. It's not, it's all hard, so stop complaining. You're there. You're there, get on your. You know it's a good idea. Came up with it. Watch it on. If I do some exercising right yeah if you're like you know I need a bit exercise, grab a treadmill, put, put episode one piece on and just watch it pedal and watch it as you go and then you've done what?

Speaker 2:

30 minutes yep, you've burned a Snickers bar off you've burned a Snickers bar if you want to watch two episodes two Snickers, bars two. Snickers bars. That's a lot of calories. That's a lot of calories. And if you can do that every day, mm. If you watch one episode a day, yeah, we finish it by no, you need to watch more than yeah, yeah yeah, you might have finished some East Blue yeah, you need to watch, like I think I was watching.

Speaker 2:

Like gotta be 8 to 10 a day, yeah, but skipping some buffers shit yeah yeah, cuz trim the fat. Sometimes you watch some episode you know like this is an important at all. Cuz doesn't highway add like I know they add like heaps of like filler episodes.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, especially in the early stages and with one piece. One piece is very much like you watch the episode cool, next episode half that last episode is in there, and then you're only really watching 10 minutes of new stuff yeah so you can. Yeah, there's a lot of like fat that can be trimmed.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, off the pork belly wait, netflix, you should sponsor us. By how much?

Speaker 1:

we fucking talk about one piece, bro, you're like man the amount of the amount of times we've said for Netflix, like Netflix to sponsor us, because we're chatting about Netflix and how good it is yeah shit they're giving us bullshit, man like come on man yeah, come on, come on Netflix. Yeah, give us a fucking I get a big core, throw me a bone. Yeah, throw me a bone.

Speaker 2:

Um, yeah, so that's, that's, exciting.

Speaker 1:

That's. It's very. I think that's pretty cool yeah.

Speaker 2:

Um, nothing on the live action front yet for no season two. No, but it's kind of nice just to Get back into the anime world, yeah, and enjoy it.

Speaker 1:

I know over the break.

Speaker 2:

I did take a little Break from anime I'm watching a lot of korean stuff personally. Oh, you put me on to a good show. Yeah, do I talk about it?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, we can talk about it.

Speaker 2:

Let's talk about it, man, what?

Speaker 1:

are the end siren. You guys may not know about it. Siren is a korean game show about staunch, tough, gritty and exceptional women. It's pretty dope, it's pretty dope, it's pretty. It's like survivor.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it's a yeah meets, I don't know what else.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, like kind of just physical 100, physical 100.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, if you watch, physical 100 another good show you should watch. Hmm, pretty much capture the flag team. There's teams of uh, firefighter, police elites like stunts.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, elites stunt actors, athletes athletes bodyguard Yep. Is that it Um soldiers, soldiers, soldiers.

Speaker 2:

the ones we don't like, we're not a fan of not a fan, not a fan.

Speaker 1:

Um, but it's whatever they really it's good to have a villain in the show.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and that helps keep things.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, boom nothing like a bit of trash TV you know it's trash TV but it is, but it's a good watch with your with your uh spouse. Yep 100 percent. So the main point of the show is to be in your team Stunt. Whatever you get a base, you go and do an arena battle with everyone and if you win, you get a. What do you call it upgrade or whatever? Like a Pshh, helps you in the base, battles you get like um, you get some cool shit.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, let's give an example like say, you can choose um when you do one, when you do a base battle.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, there you go. The base battles are random. Yeah, so you don't know when it's gonna come.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, there's called siren, siren. So when the siren goes off, you've base battle, bros, base battle. Um no striking, no, yep, there's no, there's grappling. Yeah, you can grapple the hell out of each other.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, grapple, use that traps.

Speaker 2:

Yep, use axes to break in windows.

Speaker 1:

That blew my mind. That blew my mind when they were breaking windows with shit, oh yeah, chopping down the doors and they're like fuck these chicks crazy. I was like this is dangerous as fuck. Yeah, it's just um. Yeah, it's really good, it really um.

Speaker 1:

For me, anyway, it really emphasized how Exceptional women can be in these predominantly male roles that you know the gender norms and it really broke through for me anyway, because like you kind of expect, like what these kind of shows for me, you kind of expect the women to like Be too too much, like they're trying too hard.

Speaker 2:

Because they're trying to bridge that gap. Yeah, but they were just being women. Yeah, they're just who they are. It was really cool.

Speaker 1:

They are who they are and they're they're staunch. Yeah and I fucking For me, love that.

Speaker 2:

I thought I was gonna love that. I always so imagined. I was like man can you imagine if this was dudes? This would get so out of hand.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, too hot headed too much.

Speaker 2:

There's no way you could hold that back.

Speaker 1:

No, and I think that's what made it good. Is that, like they, they understood the rules. They stuck by the rules Most of the time. Yeah, yeah and um yeah, it wasn't really too bloody, it was just no, no it was good.

Speaker 2:

It's good. No one gets really Seriously hurt the whole time. No, and it was good. Dude Watch it.

Speaker 1:

Watch. Do you haven't watched the guys siren?

Speaker 2:

It's on there, siren if you just want one of those shows you just look into watch with someone like a little fun. Like you have some cheese and wine, we know you get our audience want to chill same age. Hey, we talk about knife sets. Yeah, we talk about knife sets. Yeah, sometimes not just about anime guys, about knife sets.

Speaker 1:

There's knives that I want, that I can't get that's it.

Speaker 2:

Do you want a ceramic pan? Hmm, beautiful to cook on. You know what I mean. Sometimes you want, like cook a cook a nice meal, nice little steak on a steak on a ceramic. Yeah cook a nice steak, put it on the table, watch a bit of a tv dinner.

Speaker 1:

That's a good tv dinner. That's it. Yeah, I watched it with dinner, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I'm not gonna be watching, and this is just the facts, guys.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, okay.

Speaker 2:

And if you're a dude out there, hit him with the facts and you think, hey, I'm gonna find this girl who's gonna watch all my anime shows with me. It's not gonna happen. Good luck, buddy. It's not gonna happen. It might start like that because she's trying to, like you know, impress you, impress you, um, but do you want her? You know, do you want to impress her or do you want her to undress you? Tell us what you want. Tell us what you want because that's not gonna happen. Yeah, because that's not gonna happen.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I'm solo leveling. She's not gonna she's gonna literally gag be on a phone and Like oh, I just like, yeah, scared, yeah, like the second episode, she's gonna fuck me the gore crazy, loved it.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, you might be okay with um. You know, I never watched one with my missus. You're probably more like I've watched a few.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, but she's into it and that says something yeah yeah, but she's not into gore, so a lot of the animas I watch she can't really watch like she can't watch juju too. She can't watch solo leveling. You know, tack on Titan.

Speaker 2:

You know just kind of like a bit too much, so just a little tip out there girls, same thing. You might find a dude. It's not into anime, yeah, um, sirens. Siren is not an anime. Sirens could be the connecting tissue between, yeah, between dating someone and not dating someone.

Speaker 1:

That's also the connecting tissue between you. Watching a A sub 100, it's not a dubbed show.

Speaker 2:

It's not a dub show. You can't watch it in dub. Yes, hasn't been dubbed.

Speaker 1:

It's just a Korean with subs. Very true, good practice, good practice.

Speaker 2:

Get into it, you're gonna be boring about that. Entertainment is there.

Speaker 1:

There's a lot of screaming, there's not a lot of um Planning or whatever. It's always one line. It's never like two lines.

Speaker 2:

Let's appreciate the koreans always on how to throw in like that's slo-mo. That's not meant to be slo-mo.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, they love the fucking slo-mo and like the replay, the replay the replay and then slo-mo replay like one, two, three.

Speaker 2:

I'm gonna get him. I'm gonna get him and it'll be like from different angles. I'm gonna get him.

Speaker 1:

You're like yeah, okay, we get it, we get it, he's gonna get him, but it works, works. It's so good. It keeps like yeah.

Speaker 2:

I was in the whole time.

Speaker 1:

I was, yeah, I was drawn to that show.

Speaker 2:

Those, shows make me worried about myself. What do you mean? Some like, if they like, are doing something sneaky right now, like for me watching this show. Yeah they've completely got me. Yeah, you know what I mean. Like they're doing some like subliminal messaging right now through like sorry, I'm not in a good spot, no, so if I end up, you know, walking around like a zombie, yeah, brain zombie.

Speaker 1:

They've got me. They've got me. Yeah, yeah, I, yeah, zone out nothing else. Tunnel vision, me and the TV. Yeah these top shows get me like that. They get me like that too yeah and I just yeah, I, my dog, could be breathing right in my face. I don't know here bad breath, don't even notice him.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, you don't care right? No, yeah, he's in it.

Speaker 1:

I'm in it.

Speaker 2:

In the in that box concentration. Fuck yeah, man, korea, korea kills it man.

Speaker 1:

Korea kills it with reality TV shows and movies, like everything that they do Cinema maybe just relax on the zombies. Yeah, but I still want to watch the school one, the one about the school.

Speaker 2:

No idea.

Speaker 1:

It's like the school kids. It was like I don't know came out a couple years ago. It looks good.

Speaker 2:

It's like too many for me to like. I'm like man, they're. They're like all about zombies. Yeah, I look at ones. I'm like this looks like a cool premise. And then it's like, yeah, this is all these different types of zombies, but the zombies they're in there talking about zombies.

Speaker 1:

Let me just say I'm excited Rick's coming back next month. Rick and Michonne walking dead taking a big hiatus from walking dead, haven't finished the last seasons, but my boy, rick, my boy Rick, andrew Lincoln, the goat of zombie shows Yep, he's coming back. I'm excited. That's great man. I want to cuddle them. Happy for you, I'm gonna cuddle him. Grandma, I might grow my hair out just to be like Rick again.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, walking dead is like one piece used to be to me. Yeah, don't jump on that.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's a big train. It's a big train, man, it's a big train.

Speaker 2:

I've heard the last season with that good.

Speaker 1:

No.

Speaker 2:

But I don't like to, yeah, so he liked everything some people like her like my partners.

Speaker 1:

Dad loves it. He watched the new.

Speaker 2:

I don't know man, I like I like walked in on like the last season. There was this guy in like a Stormtrooper looking suit, oh yeah and I was like watch that, yet I was like I was like oh, that looks like a bit cringe bro.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

CW, remember, like you know, arrow, you're like an arrow. Villain yeah, you're like.

Speaker 1:

That looks so shit. Oh shit, bro, like I watched um. I was watching like, oh I'm sorry, sorry on a hater vibe.

Speaker 2:

It's watching some flash videos the other day yeah TV show. Oh my god, some of the shit, it's so shit. Oh, I haven't watched it since season it's finished now.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, like this was like a fight between team flash and like team zoom saboteur. Yeah and like oh my god, yeah, like flash versus flash. Cool, the side characters versing a speedster, so trash. Like yeah, it's like they don't put enough into their actions and movements. It's kind of just so.

Speaker 2:

It's the budget man it's how the TV shows. Yeah, with those type of TV shows the old school like I Could imagine, like a green arrow on Netflix. Yeah how much cooler it would be. It would be so cool like an eight episode. Fuck yeah, anyways, that's probably us.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that's us.

Speaker 2:

That's a good solid first.

Speaker 1:

Episode for you guys 2024. Thanks for listening.
